The Belarusian government has restored access to some cryptocurrency exchanges whose domains were previously restricted due to their advertising policies.
Users can now access websites again. bybit, BingX, OK and Bitget, which were added to the list of prohibited Internet resources just a few days ago.
These websites are no longer blacklisted by the Belarusian State Institute of Economics and Finance. Exchanges did indeed resume operations in Belarus on the evening of December 12, according to local media reports.
BelGIE, or the Republican Unitary Enterprise for Supervision of Telecommunications, is the telecommunications supervisory authority and maintains a list of prohibited websites.
Access to cryptocurrency exchanges was restricted last Wednesday without explanation. On Thursday, the Belarusian Ministry of Information issued a brief statement stating that it had acted upon a request from the Minsk City Executive Committee.
The announcement cited the presence of «inappropriate advertising» on their websites as the primary reason for the decision. It was also reported that the websites weex.com and gate.com had been blocked.
The agency noted that it could provide more detailed information only to the owners of the affected internet resources and added that it would restore access once the violations were resolved.
The unblocking of crypto exchanges is good news for Belarusian traders, as attempts to access their accounts via VPN could result in accounts being blocked by the exchanges themselves.
