Platform developer Bitcoin Knots Luke Dashjr wants to implement a soft fork in the Bitcoin blockchain to establish censorship.
After the software update is released Bitcoin With Core v30 for BTC network nodes, which was released in October 2025, the maximum amount of information that can be embedded in a transaction increased significantly from 80 to 100,000 bytes. Therefore, users now have the ability to upload Block illegal and immoral content that violates legal requirements.
To prevent potential violations, Luke proposed banning the attachment of data to transfers for a year through an update called a soft fork. During this time, programmers will find a better solution to this problem and release a new upgrade designed to censor information posted on the blockchain.

Critics of Dashjr’s initiative believe that any restrictions violate the fundamental principle of the BTC blockchain, which is that it can be used as desired. Software engineer Ben Kaufman went even further, calling such a soft fork, driven by legal considerations, an attack on the Bitcoin network.
Nevertheless, Luke plans to release the update soon, as its technical components have met with no objections. He urges all node operators to use the new client to protect the cryptocurrency network from attackers. Otherwise, according to Dashjr, they could face legal consequences or even a hard fork similar to the one Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
