Crуptocurrencу mining

Kazakhstan has relaxed requirements for cryptocurrency miners.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law permitting cryptocurrency mining and circulation outside the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). The document will enter into force 60 days after publication.

The law abolishes the system under which AIFC-based companies had preferential rights to mine and trade cryptocurrency.

The new rules grant individual entrepreneurs and legal entities the right to mine and operate cryptocurrency assets, but they must obtain a license to do so.

According to the new law, cryptocurrency miners in are no longer required to channel the majority of their sales through exchanges located in the AIFC. They can now trade with other independent trading platforms without restrictions.

Previously, Kazakhstan’s authorities considered creating a national crypto reserve in 2026, which would supposedly store digital assets worth up to $1 billion. The reserve would include confiscated digital currencies and stakes in cryptocurrency-related companies.
