The American billionaire and chairman of the board of telecommunications giant Grupo Salinas said that 70% of his investment portfolio is in BitcoinThe remaining 30% is allocated to gold and shares of gold mining companies.
Ricardo Salinas says he avoids traditional assets such as bonds and stocks, preferring «the most complex instruments.»
I don’t have a single bond, and I don’t have any shares other than my own, the Mexican billionaire said.
Salinas is a long-time Bitcoin supporter who has become even more confident in the future of the flagship crypto asset over the years. In 2020, BTC accounted for just 10% of the billionaire’s investment portfolio, but now that share has grown to 70%.
Interestingly, Salinas is not only personally invested in Bitcoin, but also actively promotes cryptocurrency, for example through numerous posts on social networks, where he has more than 2 million followers. Moreover, four years ago, he announced plans to make Banco Azteca, part of Grupo Salinas, the first bank in Mexico to accept Bitcoin.
The commitment to BTC and gold can also be explained by Salinas’s attempt to protect his assets from economic instability in Mexico and the devaluation of the national cryptocurrency.
